studied art at Campbellsville College in Kentucky and Tennessee Temple University. For a decade Valinda painted in the traditional folk art style, where much of her work was sold into private collections.

She eventually began exploring other styles, and an evolution took place she refers to as Adventurism. The rigid folk art style gave way to sweeping strokes and more modern elements. In recent times she has merged art with digital photography.

"...I have had an interesting life traveling as a folksinger and fiddle player throughout the southwest. When I was five I listened to sophisticated music like Gershwin and at the same time created miniature folios of artwork. I think my mother had concerns as I never played with dolls.

"In between music I continued my profound love of art exploration and continued selling to private collections. I have mostly avoided galleries. I create the art --- people find it. This suits my eccentric personality . . . my husband is a master guitarist and sculptor. Like many artists I am moved by the striking impressions found in nature. Living in Florida has had a definite impact on my designs, and I have a love affair with the state's unusual birds --- especially abundant on the lake shores in the winter.

"People have asked what I find most intriguing about my creative journey. I'd have to say the excitement of anticipating the next suprise in design --- the mistake that merges into a fulfilling piece of art, the collage that decides to flow into rightness, and then the total suprise --- where in the world did that come from?"
